Samsung dishwasher install pricing by tier
Samsung sells four dishwasher tiers in the US: the entry DW50 series, the mid DW60, the premium DW80 (the most-sold), and the Bespoke panel-ready DW84. All four install on the same physical platform; the cost variation is in the panel handling and the included install kit. Pricing surveyed across the Samsung US dishwasher catalogue and authorised dealer install bundles in April 2026:
| Tier | Appliance MSRP | Install labor | Total install package |
|---|---|---|---|
| DW50 (entry) | $549-749 | $150-225 | $700-975 |
| DW60 (mid) | $749-999 | $150-250 | $900-1,250 |
| DW80 (premium, AutoRelease) | $999-1,499 | $175-300 | $1,175-1,800 |
| DW84 Bespoke (panel-ready) | $1,499-2,099 | $250-450 | $1,750-2,550+ |
The recall-check before you install
Samsung has had two notable dishwasher recalls in recent years. The 2024 recall affected approximately 800,000 units across the DW80R5060 and DW80R7060 model families for a heating-element fire risk; affected serial numbers were eligible for free repair. The earlier 2016 recall affected approximately 200,000 units for a similar heating-element defect. Before installing any Samsung dishwasher, check the model number and serial number against the CPSC recall database. A recalled unit must be repaired before use, and installers will typically refuse to fit one until the repair is complete.
If you bought new from a major retailer in 2025 or later, the recalled stock has been pulled from the supply chain and the model is unaffected. The risk is buying a refurbished unit, a marketplace listing, or a discounted display model that may predate the recall fix.
AutoRelease door clearance
The Samsung DW80 series uses AutoRelease drying: at the end of the wash cycle, the door pops open approximately 6 inches automatically to vent steam. The implementation is similar to Miele's AutoOpen, with the same kitchen-layout consideration: ensure 30 to 36 inches of clear floor in front of the dishwasher to avoid the popping door becoming a tripping hazard. You can disable AutoRelease in the control menu, but doing so degrades the dry rating.
For peninsula or island layouts where the door would swing into a high-traffic aisle, either downgrade to the DW60 (no AutoRelease), relocate the dishwasher in the cabinet run, or accept the drying penalty.
Samsung Bespoke panel-ready install
The Bespoke line lets you order interchangeable colour and finish panels for the dishwasher front. Samsung sells eight stock panels (matte white, matte black, navy, sage, brushed steel, glass white, glass black, and walnut) at $179 to $299 each through the Samsung Bespoke configurator. Custom cabinet panels from a cabinet maker run $300 to $700 to match a full kitchen run.
Install of a Bespoke panel adds 30 to 60 minutes for the panel mounting. The dishwasher ships ready to accept the panel via a four-bolt cleat at the front face; the installer aligns the panel to surrounding cabinetry and torques the bolts. Compared with Bosch's panel-ready process (which uses a different bracket design), Samsung's system is more forgiving for slightly off-square cabinet runs.

What is included in a Samsung installer's standard scope
- Disconnect and remove the existing dishwasher.
- Verify model and serial against current recall database before installation.
- Slide the new Samsung into the bay (single-person lift, 64 to 78 pounds depending on tier).
- Connect the 3/8 inch braided supply line to the brass inlet under the unit.
- Route the drain hose with a high loop (or air gap on California installations).
- Plug into existing 120V outlet, or wire into existing hardwire junction box.
- Adjust the two front feet and rear levelling mechanism. Samsung uses a rear lever rather than a roller, which is faster to adjust.
- Top-mount brackets into the countertop, or side-mount kit if granite or quartz.
- Run a 20-minute test cycle to confirm fill, drain, heater, and AutoRelease function.
- Pair with the Samsung SmartThings app via Wi-Fi setup (DW80 and above).
Where Samsung sits in the brand reliability picture
Samsung dishwashers rate in the bottom third of major-brand reliability surveys at Consumer Reports, ahead of Frigidaire and behind Bosch, Miele, KitchenAid and GE. The two main complaint areas are control-board failures (typically year 3 to 5) and door-latch hinge wear (typically year 4 to 6). Both are repairable but cost $180 to $400 per repair out of warranty.
For installation specifically this matters in two ways. First, the extended-warranty math favours Samsung more than other brands; the Samsung Care+ 5-year plan ($149 to $199 at point of sale) is one of the few extended warranties that statistically pays out. Second, the brand-buyer typically wants the SmartThings ecosystem (Samsung TV, Samsung washer/dryer, Samsung phone), and the install Wi-Fi pairing is genuinely useful day-one. Have your SmartThings account credentials ready when the installer arrives.
Samsung first-time install
A first-time Samsung install with no existing dishwasher hookup runs $300 to $700 in labor. Standard scope: licensed plumber for the new supply and drain runs ($150 to $400), licensed electrician for the new 20-amp branch circuit if one is not already in place ($250 to $900). Permit fees by jurisdiction add $90 to $270.

FAQ
Is Samsung Bespoke worth the panel premium?
If you are buying into the Samsung Bespoke ecosystem (matching fridge, oven, washer, dryer in the same finish family), the dishwasher is the smallest single piece and the visual continuity is worth the $200 to $700 premium. As a one-off panel-ready dishwasher purchase outside the broader Bespoke kitchen, it is harder to justify; Bosch and KitchenAid offer panel-ready at similar pricing with broader cabinet-shop integration experience.
Does Samsung work with Apple HomeKit?
No. Samsung dishwashers integrate with SmartThings, not HomeKit. Apple Home users will need the SmartThings app as a bridge. If your kitchen is fully HomeKit-native, Bosch's Home Connect platform integrates with HomeKit and is the better fit.
How long does Samsung installation take?
Replacement: 60 to 90 minutes. Stone-counter side-mount: 75 to 105 minutes. Bespoke panel install: 90 to 150 minutes. First-time no-hookup install: 4 to 6 hours plus permit lead time.
Can I install Samsung myself?
Yes, a Samsung replacement is a 2 to 3 hour DIY for a competent homeowner. The installation manual is freely available on the Samsung support site. The two specific things to watch for: the supplied 3/8 inch supply line ferrule is a one-time-use crush fitting (do not reuse it across installs), and the AutoRelease door requires the cabinet bay to have full 24-inch interior depth (some non-standard cabinets are 22 inches and the AutoRelease cannot deploy fully).
Does Samsung Care+ cover installation issues?
Samsung Care+ covers manufacturer defects and ordinary wear, but explicitly excludes damage caused by improper installation. The same warranty exclusion applies regardless of who installed the unit. Save the install paperwork.
